Christmas 2008

Christmas this year was great for our family! We had so much fun visiting both families, playing lots of games and eating a lot of yummy food! We really cashed in this year, especially Alli! She got lots of cute toys and clothes and Josh and I got some really nice stuff too. We're so lucky and blessed. I'm glad it's over though and ready to get back to normal life!

Holiday Recipe # 4

Last but not least...TWICE BAKED POTATOES!!

These are probably my all time favorite. I make them all throughout the year, but they're especially good for this time of year. My Mom usually makes these for either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinner. I love love love these kind of potatoes, but then again I love ALL potatoes!

Bake Large Potatoes and cool.
Slice Tops off and scoop out potatoe, and put into blender.
Add Butter, sour cream, onion (optional), milk, salt/pepper and cheese.
(There's not really a specific measurement for these ingredients, it's just to your taste.)I always put in generous amounts of butter, sour cream and cheese. Then scoop potatoe mixture back into potatoe skins. You can throw away the tops that were cut off.

Sprinkle Seasoning Salt and/or Paprika on top.

Put all potatoes in a large baking pan, then put back into oven to bake half hour or until cheese is melted.

Cutie Pie

Alli's hair is getting so long! She did so good posing for me for a side view of her hair. Posing is usually not a problem for her, she loves to get her picture taken! Can you see her wings on the side? I love it! She is such a cutie pie and SO funny, I just love her!

Holiday Recipe #3

Christmas Divinity

It's a little confusing, but it is DIVINE!!!!!

1 C water
1 C light corn syrup
4 C sugar

Combine and bring to boil, stir constantly. Put lid on for 3 minutes to dissolve sugar crystals. Continue to boil to "soft ball" stage.

4 egg whites beaten

2 tsp vanilla
1 C chopped nuts (optional)

Then pour half of the egg white mixture into first mixture and beat constantly. Continue cooking remaining egg mixture to "hard crack" stage. Then pour over egg mixture until it looses its shine. Quickly fold in vanilla and nuts.
Can pour into cookie sheet to cut into squares, or drop like cookies on wax paper.

* I half this recipe because really big and it won't all fit in my blender.

Family Time

This weekend my family all went through a session at the Timpanogas temple and then we had a family picture taken afterwards. My Mom has been wanting this for like two years, so we finally made it happen and she got her Christmas wish!
It was so nice to have all of us together as a family in the temple. I love going to the temple, but being there with your whole family makes it even better. Afterwards we all went to Chadder's for lunch.
The night before we celebrated my brother Brandon's 31st Birthday, and played a little guitar hero. What a great family I have, Love ya'll!

All Ready!

We are all ready for Christmas! We've got the tree, the lights and decorations up. Now all I need to do is finish Christmas shopping, I'm about half way done.

My personal favorite decoration...Mistletoe! Who doesn't love to kiss under the mistleoe?!

Holiday Recipe #1

I love all the food, treats and drinks that are made during the holidays, so I thought I would share some of my favorite Holiday Recipes! This one is called LIME SLUSH. My Mom makes this every Christmas Eve and I absolutely LOVE it.

Lime Slush

1 can of limeade—make according to can directions
8 cups water
3 cups sugar
Sprite or 7-Up

Combine sugar in water over low-medium heat until completely dissolved. Mix with prepared limeade, and pour into big container. Freeze overnight. (it depends on the freezer too~I always make it ahead of time so it has at least 24 hours to freeze) Take it out a couple of hours before serving to let it thaw a little bit. Chop up with spoon in punch bowl until slushy. Pour 7-Up/Sprite over and serve. You drop in some cherries and/or limes on top if you want too. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Weekend

This year for Thanksgiving we went to my house. My mom cooked a delicious Thanksgiving meal as always. She is the BEST cook/host I know! She's just amazing. Us, my parents and my Uncle Maurice and Aunt Connie and their son TM were all there. Later, we played the Wii that had just been set up. It is SO much fun, I love it! That night my Mom and I drove over to Gunnison to watch Twilight. She hadn't seen it so she wanted to go, and I didn't mind going again. Friday afternoon we took Alli to see Santa Claus on main street and she didn't even cry! You could tell she was so scared. She didn't look up at him once, but she never cried...she's such a good little girl! This is the only picture I have, the rest of the Thanksgiving pictures are on my Dad's camera...woops!

Friday night we drove to Cedar to Josh's house. Saturday morning Josh helped his Dad finish building some dog houses he had started building for our dogs, and they are SO nice! His Dad is such a handy man so I'm glad he's there to help! And let me just say, they are HUGE!!! The dogs are going to love them and now they'll stay nice and warm for the winter. I just hope they don't chew these ones apart!
Later, we met up for lunch at Costa Vida. Afterwards, Sarah and I went back and played more Wii. It's hard to steal it away from the guys, but we managed to get some playing time in! Today was a LONG trip home. Alli wasn't feeling too well and she was in the truck from noon to about 5:30. Plus, she didn't go to sleep until 3am the night before, so I hope she gets feeling better.
Anyway, I just love the holidays. There is nothing better than eating great food, candy and desserts while spending time with family. We're lucky to have such nice families on both sides. I can't wait for Christmas!

Twilight Review

So I'm sure a lot of people will be blogging about Twilight, but oh well, here is my version! I went to it last night with Lindsay (wife of one of Josh's friends). She won tickets and got us free popcorn and drinks so we didn't have to pay a dime which was awsome!
Overall, I thought it was good but some of the acting wasn't too great, and I still don't really like the actor who played Edward. Although he did grow on me throughout the movie, I still thought they could've got someone way better. Actually, I thought Emmett should have been Edward, he is more of what I pictured Edward to look like.
Also, I didn't like how the vampires looked dead. I know vampires are supposed to be really pale but I thought they still could've looked normal, maybe a little pale looking but NOT as durastic as they looked in the movie. Most of the characters fit the picture of what I had in my head while reading the book, but some were way off! For example Carlisle, Charlie, Jacob and a couple others. It's so funny how you picture it all different when you're reading it..or at least I did. Overall I thought it was entertaining and pretty good. It wasn't what I had anticipated, but worth it.

Carrie Underwood Concert

Last night we went to Carrie Underwood! It was so much fun! She did great, and was a good singer live. My favorite part was when she brought up a little girl to sing "All American Girl" with her, it was so cute.
I gotta say that she had great style too! I pretty much loved all her outfits and jewelry, and especially her shoes!! I loved ALL her shoes, haha! Here are some pictures, sorry they're are not that great. Thanks Josh for taking me, it was a fun night! =)

This is Little Big Town, they opened for her.

13 Months

Alli at 13 Months....

* She is walking all over the place like a pro now!

* Great at giving kisses, hugs and "loves." She is such a good little lover, she can always cheer you up if you need it!

* Always is carrying around this stuffed animal gorilla everywhere she goes and gives it hugs. I have no idea why she loves it so much but she does.

* LOVES to eat. Sometimes I think she eats more than me! I'm just glad she does like to eat and is healthy.

* Got her first professional hair cut and cookie cutters and loved it!

* Off the bottle about a month ago and is drinking 100% from sippy cups

* Loves to read books

* Chocolate lover like her Mom, I've given her a few pieces now and then and she can't get enough of it.

* When Daddy comes home, she get's SO excited. She likes to play with Dad. I love to watch them interact with each other, it's so cute.

* Gets into everything and pulls everyting out. Jewelery, kitchen pans, trash can, pantry, toilet, toilet paper, make-up, all sorts of drawers, magazines, shoes, books, pretty much everything she can. She is very busy and messy!

But through all the messes, we love her more than anything!

Family Pictures

We got family pictures taken a few weeks ago and just got them back this weekend. We got tons of pictures on a cd with the copyright so we can print however many we want, wherever we want which will save a lot of money when it comes to printing. Plus they all came in Regular, Rusty, Antique and Black & White finishes..SO NICE! Jeremy Pexton is the photographer who took them and he did a great job.
Here are a few of them, I mean A LOT of them that aren't already on my sidebar, sorry for the picture overload! It was so hard to narrow it down to just a few- what a cute husband and daughter I have! I'm going to try and make it tradition to get them done at least once a year for our family.

We have a Walker!

Alli took her first steps (three steps to be exact) on October 7Th, and since then she's gotten better and better. Today she has been walking all over the place on her own. I was doing the dishes this morning and next thing I know Alli was walking to me! She's been practicing all day long and now that's all she wants to do! She's still not 100% stable but she's definitely gotten a lot more confident. Here's a couple short videos of her in action.

Baby Shower

Last weekend I went to Richfield for my friend Jennie's baby shower. She is having a baby girl in November and she looks so cute prego!
It's been a tradition to go to Pepperbelly's in Richfield for each baby shower to have dinner and open gifts. I look forward to these so much to catch up with everyone! We always have a blast when we get together and end up talking for hours. After the shower we went to Cami's house to see her new twins which are adorable...we stayed there until almost eleven just talking and holding her babies. It was so much fun, I love these girls!

A couple nights ago I was driving to the gym listening to 97.1. They said "text in to win Thriller tickets," so I did and it wasn't working for some reason. So a few minutes later I decided to just call the station and he said "It's your lucky day, you win!"
So last night Josh and I went to it. Thriller is a Halloween dance performance presented by Odyssey Dance Theatre. It was prety fun and entertaining. Mostly it's just fun to win stuff, I hardly ever win anything so I was excited! If you're looking for a fun Halloween activity you should go check it out. It's at Kingsbury Hall at the U of U right now.
